ChinaMed Project Head of Research Andrea Ghiselli is one of the speakers at the “The war and its implications for the global strategic order” seminar, organised by the British International Studies Association through its International Studies of the Mediterranean, Middle East & Asia working group in collaboration with the Middle East Institute, National University of Singapore.

This free and open eseminar will take place online via Zoom on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 (UK time). The discussion also includes Jonathan Fulton (Zayed University), Ali Bakir (Middle East Council on Global Affairs), and Feng Zhang (East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore).

The seminar will examine the implications of the expanding war involving the United States, Israel and Iran for the global strategic order, the Gulf states and the effectiveness of existing US-backed security arrangements, as well as the ways in which US allies are reassessing their defence postures and strategic alignments. The discussion will also explore the growing links between the Russia–Ukraine war and conflicts in the Middle East, and what these developments may mean for future geopolitical and economic configurations.
